TurfMutt’s Mutt of the Month for March is a pretty girl named Penelope, or Penny for short. Penny is a black lab mix who hit the jackpot when she met her new family at the Mutt Madness adoption event at Equip Exposition in 2022.

“My mom said we’re not taking a dog home, but I got her to agree,” says Molly, who fell in love with the pooch she calls the calmest member of her puppy pack.

Penny is sassy, smart and a bit of a trouble-maker, according to her new family. “She has figured out how to open every door in the house, so we’ve had to do some major baby-proofing,” says Molly.

The family also has a seven-year-old miniature Dotson, and the two get along pretty well. Penny loves to go on car rides – something she perfected from the minute she joined the family. It was a 14-hour drive from the event in Louisville to the family’s home in Florida, but Penny was a trooper about the trip.

“She slept the entire way home,” Molly reports.
