Lucky’s Mutt Madness Pups Settle in at Home

The annual Lucky’s Mutt Madness pet adoption event was held last month in Louisville at Equip Exposition, the trade show sponsored by the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI), which is the TurfMutt Foundation’s parent organization. Fifteen lucky pups found their forever homes at the event.

We checked in with some of the pet parents to get an update on the dogs. Check them out below. (Fair warning – the following content is cuteness overload!)

Ma’am is a four-month old chocolate lab mix that captured the heart of her owner since the second he laid eyes on her. “It was love at first sight!” Kelly says. Ma’am’s favorite things to do are crawl under the bed, play fetch, and go outside with her golden retriever friend who lives upstairs.

Marco is shepherd/hound mix who is settling in at home with his human sister. “He’s brought new energy into our daily lives. He’s improved our social life, as well, with everyone wanting to come see him!” says Marco’s person Dane. He adds, “It [Lucky’s Mutt Madness] is a great cause and partnership with the Equip Expo to help a rescue animal. A lot of people attend the Expo every year and it really gives animals in need valuable exposure.”

Prince is a corgi/German shepherd mix puppy who has adjusted really well to his new home. “He's extremely playful, and super loveable,” says adopter Chris. “He’s always friendly and good at listening.” Prince has a cat brother named Dax to keep him company and help him learn the ropes at his new home.

Vinny Van Gogh, or just Vinny for short, went home with Brandon, who’s an artist and was drawn to the dog’s unique name, as well as his cute personality. “ We lost our 18-year-old cat two months ago, and my wife and I, along with our 4-year-old rescue dog Belle, had been feeling like we were missing a fourth member of the family.” Vinny is a big snuggler who loves to watch TV and roll on his back for belly rubs. He also enjoys cleaning up sticks in the backyard and playing with his sister Belle Starr, the Pyrenees/black lab/cattle dog mix.

Winston, a basset hound mix, was adopted by Kaitlin who came to Mutt Madness looking for a companion for her other dog. Winston loves farm life and spending time with the other animals – including dogs, donkeys, cats and cows – at his new home. “He’s still a little afraid of the big animals, but he really loves the other dogs,” says Kaitlin.
