TurfMutt Celebrates National Rescue Dog Day

May 20 is National Rescue Dog Day, and the TurfMutt Foundation is celebrating rescue pups on this day that dogs. Each year at the Equip Exposition trade show, the TurfMutt Foundation hosts Lucky’s Mutt Madness, a national adoption event.

Mutt Mulligan, the spokesdog of the TurfMutt Foundation was one of the pups who was adopted at the 2019 event. At the 2021 Lucky’s Mutt Madness, 15 lucky dogs found their forever homes.

Here are a few ideas on how to celebrate National Rescue Dog Day:

  • Post a pic of your rescue pup on your social media feed.
  • Spoil your dog even more than you usually do!
  • Update your backyard to be a pet paradise for your dog. Add grass for running and playing and trees for shade.
  • Adopt a dog from a local shelter or rescue organization, or foster a dog in need. Encourage your friends and family to “adopt, don’t shop” when adding a furry friend to their pack.
  • Volunteer your time or donate some money to your local animal shelter or favorite rescue organization.
