Oliver was adopted at Mutt Madness in 2019, the same year Mulligan the TurfMutt was adopted by the TurfMutt Foundation’s president & CEO Kris Kiser. Oliver’s human is Patti, who adopted a dog named Forrest at Mutt Madness in 2018.

Patti didn’t go to Mutt Madness expecting to adopt in 2019, she was just planning to share how Forrest was doing. “As I was walking out, I saw Oliver being held by a volunteer,” she remembers. “Sometimes you just get the feeling that it is meant to be. That’s what happened – I just saw him and immediately there was a connection.”

Oliver and Forrest are great friends, even if they are an unlikely pair. Oliver – the smaller of the two – wears the pants in the family, according to Patti. “Forrest and Oliver love to play tug-of-war even though Forrest is 70 pounds and Oliver is only 7! They are such unlikely friends.”

Oliver goes to work with Patti, who owns a landscaping business, every day. She says that Oliver reminds her all the time of how important it is to be small yet mighty. “I am so thankful and blessed that we found him and were able to make him part of our ever-growing pets and people family.”

When the family added a new rescue kitty named Francis to the pack, Oliver took to her right away. “They play constantly!” reports Patti. “She can get into smaller hiding spaces than he can, and it drives him crazy in a playful way. She also loves to spring out at him unexpectedly from those places as he passes by. She waits and pounces, and the chase begins,” Patti says.

Patti says Oliver is a real man’s man, and that he really loves her husband. “My husband says to me every day that adopting Oliver was the best decision we could have made,” Patti concludes.

Mutt Madness will once again be held at Equip Exposition in Louisville on Thursday, October 17.
