Spotlight on Mulligan the TurfMutt for National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day

Sunday, April 30, is National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day. If you are looking to add a furry member to your family, the TurfMutt Foundation encourages you to find your next pet at your local shelter or rescue organization.

The TurfMutt Foundation is a big supporter of pet adoption. After all, our spokesdog Mulligan the TurfMutt is a mixed breed rescue pup. Mulligan was abandoned with her siblings and rescued by the Kentucky Humane Society (KHS). But her second chance arrived when she was adopted by the TurfMutt Foundation’s president and CEO Kris Kiser at the 2019 Mutt Madness pet adoption event. Mutt Madness is hosted by TurfMutt and held each year at Equip Exposition, the international landscape, outdoor living, and equipment exposition hosted by TurfMutt’s parent organization the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI).

That year, Mulligan and 14 other dogs were adopted at the event. All told, the event has matched 44 dogs with their forever homes!
