Want to be a happier, more satisfied person? Perhaps you should consider adding a furry friend to your family.

A UK study has revealed that the profound impact of having a dog or cat companion on life satisfaction and overall well-being is comparable to the positive influence of friends and family. Economic researchers at the University of Kent estimate that the companionship of a cat or dog can be equivalent to £70,000 annually – that's roughly $90,000 in U.S. dollars!

Dr. Adelina Gschwandtner who led the study for Kent University said, “This research answers the question whether overall pet companions are good for us with a resounding ‘Yes’. Pets care for us and there is a significant monetary value associated with their companionship. This information can be used for health care practice and policy aiming to increase well-being and life satisfaction of humans involving pets.”

This study underscores what many pet owners already know: pets bring immense joy and fulfillment. At TurfMutt, we believe the green space in our own yards and public parks provides the perfect space for pets and their families to thrive together.
