TurfMutt Lesson Plan: Battling Extreme Weather

Did you know TurfMutt has science-based lesson plans for kids in grades K-8? The lessons help parents, guardians, and teachers educate children about STEM concepts in a fun and engaging way.

In the Battling Extreme Weather activity, kids help TurfMutt and the Outdoor Powers fight the environmental bad guys – Heat Freak, Dr. Runoff, Carbon Creep, and Dust Demon. Whenever bad weather hits, these villains are sure to also be around.

In the lesson, kids learn how the plants in our backyards, parks, and community green spaces can help lessen the effects of extreme weather. The right plants, planted in the right place, can mitigate drought, air pollution, flooding, and more.
